Recycling into a Wearable..

2Jan11 15:26:34 - Trinket numeral dos

In 2008, my husband and I were about to go visit our son in Nebraska, he was graduating from high school.  I wanted to make him something that he would love and keep. I used his old jeans and made him a jean quilt. I used his pockets, some of the buttons, some of the belt loops, making it original.  Needless to say he still loves it, and I enjoyed making it for him.  My son and I are very close, so I kept all of the jean material, it is soft and worn and easy to work with. I have plenty left over.

I actually love the look and feel of soft worn denim. I kind of reminds me of the 80's, because everything was denim ... denim and lace.. denim and heels, bleached denim, torn denim, jean purses, denim with denim.. it went a long way in the 80's. But, guess what is coming back? Denim, even as shabby chic..

So, I will wear this trinket, probably on Friday, since I can wear jeans to work then... and will make sure to adorn my newest trinket, a denim flower pin..I think it would look great on a hat.. on a blouse.. even a barrette for hair..

  1. Very, very pretty. I adore working with denim too...love the way it frays, love the way it gets soft and faded, but don't love trying to push layers through my machines! It will look great as a work pin...great job!
