Trinket # 28 and # 29

Well, needless to say, it's been a very busy past few days.  But of course I have still had ideas in my head to work with, so I still march on with the challenge.  I'm still loving it of course.

So, Trinket # 28 (protection bags), is going to be used for the cleansing of a house.  I did quite a bit of research in old books and on the internet, talked to some people that have cleansed houses before (just so you know, this house is very active with more than one spirit, some are just playful but one isn't quite that nice) and this is a combination of herbs, woods (bark), stones, colors and names hand written inside, that will help with not only protection, but helping to ward off spirits that are unwanted in this resident.

While hand sewing these little pouches of harmony, I said, a prayer as such instilling peace and comfort into every stitch.  I took my time making them, and will have the minister(s) that will also be attending this cleansing to bless them.  There is no harm in taking that which is natural (as in mother earth, mother nature, the earth, the intentions, the love, the power of unity) and making it into something amazing and powerful.

Believe it or not they smell amazing and earthy, they are small enough to carry in a pocket and they will help to protect anyone that needs them (with the correct name written into them). I actually love them, and will be making my own for strength, happiness, contentment, courage, clarity and intuition.

Trinket # 29

This next one, I've seen quite a few times.  It's something that I made for my mother (because of her love for birds and nests).  I have never attempted one before, so I sat down and just worked with it. I'm very pleased how it turned out, and I can't wait to give it to her.  So, for today's trinket (eggs in nest necklace) I used fresh water pearls, and a chain with a heart finish clasp/bar. I'm actually very pleased on how this turned out as well.

I call this one "New Beginnings".

A set of Three

Day # 25, 26 and today Day # 27th:

I wanted to make a set, so, I purposefully left them all to photograph today. I hope you enjoy them.  I will be honest, while, I get told a lot that purple is a beautiful color on me, besides red, it is my least favorite color.  However, with the properties involved with this set..I believe it will benefit myself, or anyone that were to wear it.

There are many properties typed up on the internet and in books concerning this beautiful stone.  The census would state that it helps to enhance intuition and mental connections. It's also been known to convert negative energy to feelings of love and kindness and protects against psychic attacks.

The other, fresh water pearls, coincide and compliment the Amethyst in healing properties along with opening one's mind and allowing yourself to explore your purpose.

This would be a necklace, earrings and bracelet.

Welcome to a Plethora of Trinkets!

So, since I haven't posted ALL of the trinkets I have made, guess what, it's going to be a BLOWOUT post!

Thank you for your patience, seriously! It's going to be a doozy and I'm excited to share them!

Thursday, January 20th, trinket # 20.

I made these during my lunch hour, then wore them the rest of the day.  I really enjoy how light they are, and how long they hang.  I will be honest, I created them after seeing Beth's earrings Spring Fever Earrings and I told her so.  I hope she takes it as a compliment!

So, then Friday January 21, trinket # 21, it was a quick pendant. I had found the most beautiful Tiger's eye at the Metaphysical shop, and it called to me.  It is said that Tiger's eye stones help to clear the mind of annoying and stressful thoughts. It's very simple but I can't wait to wear it.

So, Saturday, January 22 trinket # 22, I had this sweet little clear crystal quartz that also asked to be made into a pendulum pendant.  This one actually is going to a friend because it has three other stones attached, Jade (promotes balance), fresh water pearl (enables the qualities of love), Apache Tear (believed to bring good luck) and of course the clear crystal quartz (the stone of clarity).  Ending with a sliver moon charm.

So Sunday, January 23, trinket # 23 .. I made this while spending time with my mother.  She has now decided that she wants to learn how to do it.  I love that! Had fun laughing with her while doing it.  I think I'm going to have a jewelry making party one of these days, my mother, several of my friends. Just having fun and laughing and creating!!

This necklace is probably going to my mother.  She loved it that much, plain, simple yet dainty and dressy.

So, tonight, in getting caught up on my postings, the Monday Motif is "Arsenic and Old Lace".. This one I went simple on.  A true trinket.  I know some of you will appreciate this... "Needs more cow bell"...

And there you have it.  I hope I didn't disappoint.  I wanted to go ahead and tantalize your imagination and tickle your funny bone. Comments of course are always welcomed!

So tonight I will catch up.. I think I am four behind..5 today... Just think of all the fun things you get to see though? *laughing*

Slightly behind

All day, I did crafts.. jewelry crafting. My bad in getting lost in making these cherished tidbits and not posting for day 15 of this challenge.  It's OK though, I'm posting it now, especially since I can't sleep.

This is a rough clear crystal quartz. Mind you, anyone can google and find out what the perceived properties are, but to truly figure them out, you must sit, hold them, and get to know them, spending time with them. There are so many things in this life that we need to personally get to know, establishing a relationship. Often, people that don't know, or are still learning, tending to follow what everyone else says about things, situations, life.

I do believe, one of the most important properties of clear crystal quartz tends to be intuition. I also believe that the appearance of all crystals should not be judged on their power, their energies or even their characteristics. The appearance of the surface can be deceptive.

This one, it's strong in clearing thoughts and manifests the desire to meditate and generate energy and dispel corrosive negative energy. It's larger than most I've ever owned or worked with.

I can't explain to you how much I love dragonflies. They reflect so much joy and a sense of being.  They do represent the ability to see through illusions. It's as if they remind us to let the light within ourselves shine through our soul, our being and our aura, to project our inner light allowing others to see. Fill your life with color and altruism.

Dolphins, they communicate through touch and sound.  Their energy is so soothing and promotes healing.

This pendant could be used either for a pendulum or on a necklace.  I do enjoy the direction this trinket led me, as I was happy with the end results.

Simply 9

I had a lot of fun with this "trinket".  I hand sewed the soft fleece, and while I wanted it to be burlap, the burlap I had.. waaaay too hard to sew with. Darn it. So, with much happiness..

I introduce you to 9.  If you haven't seen the movie "9" you will not understand who this is.

I might add, in the movie the pole he is holding was his light.  I used the glow in the dark clay, so that it totally worked.  The pole is cut wire from a hanger, holding the "light" is an old sewing machine bobbin. His cute little eyes are "buttons" from an old pair of jeans.

I do love him.

Me again, day number 12 :D

This took only mere moments, but, it is for someone very special.  This, is a premie cap. I'm going to make a dozen of them, and send them to the Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

Bless the little baby that gets this little hat! <3

Again with a Day Late

Yesterday, while on break and on lunch, I actually worked on two trinkets.  One I will finish another day, the other.. I only have two completed, but it won't be long before I have the other four completed.  They are a set.

There is no insight on this, just some extra fabric I wanted to use up.. they will be functional later though :)

Look to the Future

Truthfully, I've never been afraid of the future.  When you are a survivor, literally, you not only live for today, but, you daydream of your future.

Being a survivor of Rhabdomyosarcoma is probably one of my biggest lessons in living. Even being on the Pediatric Oncology floor in Denver's Children's Hospital, meeting other sick children, that didn't survive, and going through survivors guilt, I still stand today, in full remission (after 27 years), I knew.. I was not going to die. When my odds were only 10% of surviving and another 10% of living for two years, here I am.

When I look to the future, it's a feeling of humility, and always will be.

  • The key signifies power, enlightenment
  • Apache Tear ensures balance in my emotional nature and protects me against being taken advantage of
  • Garnet instills faith, love, devotion and trust
  • The Celtic knots represents the timeless nature of my spirit

A look to my future..

I look forward to my Future..

Oh but I thought I could do it all!!

Day 6, trinket 6, you know the drill.

Believe it or not, my idea changed from about 8am this morning, and noon this afternoon. There after I would say another 5 ideas popped into my head, no less while I was driving. So, I retrieved my trusty digital recorder (which I always carry, you never know WHO will talk to you wherever you are).  As soon as I returned back to work, viola, wrote them down in my journal for the next few days of challenges.

I think I embrace the fact that rarely do things go as planned, and really, this is how ideas change, progress and come about.  Sometimes having more time (like on the weekends) gives you the opportunity for more time to work on your craft.  Thus, today's original idea will be Saturday's work day.  Between writing, making commercials, editing video and making homemade laundry soap, I will have plenty of time to work on it.. which..I'm pretty proud of and I think that the oddity of it all will be, appreciated by the right people.

So, This idea, believe it or not needed the following materials:

nails
hammer
wire (two sizes)
wood (okay okay a PIECE of wood)
"tutu" material
needle

I thought OOH this project will be easy-peasy ... o.O
I had to step away several times to release the tension in my neck and shoulders *laughing*. Don't let that fool you, I really enjoyed making it.  If course, we all know, the object of this project means "New Beginnings".

Without further ado:

In making this project, I did imagine the changes in my life, the positive things that have happened to me, leaving the negative events and people behind so that *I* could blossom. Butterflies change and move on with their lives, just like I have enjoyed doing.

Don't let other's determine how you need and want to live your live.  Don't let their insecurities be your downfalls.

It was made..

Just not posted.  This is a quick update, as there will be another one shortly.

Remember the little machines at the front of KMart that had "trinkets" in it? Remember those really hard to open plastic "eggs" of sorts they came in?

Well, take one of those, use a heated needle tip (Denim or Leather needle works best) to melt/penetrate holes into the top of this container, fill with fresh organic cat nip, and close.  Choose scrap yarn (as it doesn't need much) and crochet.

Viola.  My mother's cats ADORE them, most any cat that loves catnip will enjoy this.

Apparently with the yarn I had left over, it was a "pineapple" motif, do kitties like pineapple?

For any of those that don't follow my facebook, I had issues after leaving work and ended up falling asleep while sitting for a moment.  Big mistake.  Needless to say, they were done just not photographed.  When I woke up around 9:30pm to move to bed, well, I was still half asleep. My apologies .. I am glad however, that I did get to craft.. as my trinket will make some feline friend a nice surprise!

Can we have a "Whew"?!

Dendrochronology # 3 (of 365)

"A respected tree gives many blessings to a society. A disrespected trees brings problems even though most people now days don't see this because they live in a pretend land. But, just look at the global environmental problems and you can see that all of us must change and learn respect for all of the creation." (Shaman Amy Frank)
I love trees, I always have.  I love to photograph them, touch them, stare at them, they are a part of us, our history and they have seen some amazing things.

Today is Monday Motif, and the theme is "Blowing in the Wind".  I had no idea when I left for work. I did feel panic a little.. but then .. "Light Bulb" (in best Gru accent).  I only needed a ring..well that wasn't easy.  But..I stumbled upon luck..

I found these amazing metal bracelets. *squeee*. I had the wire, I had the beads... all I needed was the ... Patience.  (Not my strongest virtue mind you, but I'm getting there).

So I present to you:

And so it worked out.  It wasn't easy but it was fun!

Ideas are flowing

All my mind can concentrate on is producing these little trinkets of creativity for the next year.  That is how my mind works, it gets excited, the creative juices flow and ideas begin to pop into my head. I often dream of projects that I am wanting to create specifically for someone. Several of the projects posted on my Facebook page have been from dreams. There are times when I crochet entire projects in my sleep so that I can wake up and actually make them.  I don't use patterns, I really don't know how to read crochet patterns, I imagine I could, but then my creativity turns to student and I don't do so well.  Not that I am not a good student because I am (I don't know everything, never will know everything, therefore I am still a student), it just zaps my ideas into a soggy piece of toast, and toast is not toast if it's soggy!

I also started my outline, just started it mind you. I figure with the next two days at hand, I can get that nearly fully developed so that I can print it out and mark items off as I go. SINCE my first project day is on a Saturday, AND my parents will be there (for at least awhile) I am going to make my grandson the first project.  I will have time, I already have the idea, I have all the materials except for one (which I can buy tonight on the way home from work), and it is something that is not only functional but cute as well.

See, now I want to divulge details and NO..I mustn't because that is part of the surprise. I'm anxious to see everyone else's projects too.  So far, there are 3 other people I am going to keep up with.  If you have suggestions on someone else that is doing "Trinket a Day - 365" please let me know, I am interested in keeping up with everyone.

So then, I thought, really, are there rules for this challenge? Can you make individual little trinkets to make one final project (because I have several of those in mind as well, but I don't want to break the rules)... Someone let me know? :)

Over and out Buttercups!
